7 Internet Marketing Myths – Part 2

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Last time, we talked about the first of 7 myths of internet marketing.  Today, we will tackle the second myth.

Myth #2:  Having a Business Online is FREE

Compared to opening your first book store or gift shop in downtown Boston, an internet business’s start-up cost and maintenance costs are pretty low.  But you can do nothing online to make money without at least spending some money.

You need to set up your domain, and then you need to pay for web hosting, an autoresponder, advertising, and ongoing education.  Advertising and education can be as cheap or as expensive expensive as you have the money for.  There are methods of free advertising that can be very effective.

And as for education, there are two ways to look at things:

  1. You get what you pay for, or
  2. The best things in life are free!  (Or at least inexpensive.)

There are some very good training programs that are quite expensive, but there are also some excellent training programs that are free or very inexpensive.  And you can find programs everywhere in-between.  (Sounds like another good blog post for the future!)

Stay tuned for Myth #3 and Myth #4 next time!

7 Internet Marketing Myths – Part 1

Friday, September 24th, 2010

Every day, thousands of people go online to make money.  Most of them fail miserably because they either truly believe one of the 7 Internet Marketing Myths, or they believe all of them.

You can discover a grain of truth in all of them.

Over the next several blog posts, I will be sharing these myths with you.

Myth #1:  Internet Marketing is EASY

This is probably the biggest myth of all.  Let me tell you right now, internet marketing is hard.  It takes time and effort, not to mention money.  Anyone who suggests otherwise is trying to sell you their program, which is probably a bunch of baloney.

Granted, it is comparatively easier than a traditional business in that there’s no inventory to carry, no shipping of goods, no sales staff, and virtually no overhead.  But a lot of work is still involved.

So don’t fall for Myth #1, or you will end up a failure, too.

Stay tuned for Myth #2 next time!

Are You Making Money with Your Online Business?

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

If you are making good money with your online business, then you can just ignore this blog post, as it will not apply to you.  You are doing well, and know some things about network marketing that most people don’t know.

The rest of you, pay close attention!  This is for you!

What are you missing?  Why isn’t this working as you want it to?

It is quite possible that you don’t have the skills you need.  You may not even know what skills are needed!  You may not even know that you need skills in the first place!  Don’t you just set up the business like that program you are in tells you to and sit back and watch the money flow in?

Well, it is not working, is it.  Because you really do need skills to set things up the right way and understand what you are doing.   Skills are very important.

As soon as I get to a point in my skill-learning where I can, I am going to reveal a wonderful source for skill-learning, with a really great teacher, who will tell you everything you need to learn, and who will really teach you the skills you need to know to succeed.  Then you can watch your business grow the right way.

So stay tuned for more information on this in the days and weeks to come!

And by the way, in case you were wondering why I am not blogging as often right now, it is because I am pouring my time and energy into learning these skills quickly so that I can share them with you sooner.  So I will try to post at least twice a week, but hopefully will be back up to my regular schedule as soon as possible.

I Am Excited!

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

I am so excited!  I have been getting some GREAT intensive training, with more to go, and I am very excited about it!

This is why you have not been seeing updates quite as often from me as usual.  There are only so many hours in the day, and with my training, and homeschooling my son, who is now in high school, I am not having as much time or brain-power to blog as I usually do.

But it will be worth it!

Once I have the learning to the point where I can actually implement things, you will be seeing great things on this blog!  I will be going in a little bit of a different direction, but my theme will be the same.

So stay tuned!  I will be blogging about things I am learning very soon!  I hope you will stay with me here and learn along with me!  It is so fun!

Talk to you again soon!

Interested in Affiliate Marketing? Don’t Quit Your Day Job (Yet)!

Sunday, September 12th, 2010

Why would I say such a thing?!  If I am in affiliate marketing, shouldn’t I be more positive than all that?

Remember the subtitle of my blog site?  It is “Best Network Marketing Secrets.”  And one of the secrets of affiliate marketing that not many people want to tell you is that. . .making money in affiliate marketing takes TIME!

Why do the “experts” not want you to know this?

If you know this dirty little “secret,” you may not be so ready to buy their programs that claim that you can make thousands of dollars in a short period of time!  And then the people selling the training programs or ebooks would not make the kind of money THEY want to make!

Does this mean that you can’t make good money in affiliate marketing?

The answer to that is “NO!”  You can make VERY good money in affiliate marketing, but you have to be prepared to spend lots of time and energy (WORK) training; setting things up; deciding on your market, product, advertising, etc.; and then building your list before you can expect to make much, if any, money.  Once you put in the effort, once you spend the time that it takes to get everything in place, once you get your list well on its way, THEN you can start making money.

And it may not be thousands right away.  You may make $34 here, $75 there, eventually working up to $100-$250 per day.  After some more time and effort, you may then start seeing $1000 days.  But not if you want it NOW.  You will need to be patient and work hard to get there.

And if you are willing to put in the time and effort that it takes, you will make a good income in affiliate marketing.  But if you just want the big bucks NOW, than you really need to rethink going into business for yourself, because anything you do to make money from your computer will take WORK.

Stay tuned for some more tips on affiliate marketing in my next post!

Are You Getting Work Done or Are You Being Lazy?

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Ask yourself this at the end of the day, would I hire myself tomorrow?  Be honest.  Do you spend your time wisely and get lots done, or do you find yourself being lazy, doing busy work, and putting off what you know needs doing?

Some days you have the motivation and inner drive to work hard and get a lot of work done, and other days (like today when it is cloudy and dreary) you feel lazy and tired.  It is just so HARD to think and do any work except busy work.

How do you make yourself get work done when you feel that way?  Do you have a schedule that you follow no matter what, and just DO what you need to?  Do you take a nap, hoping that will take the edge off so you will feel more like working?  Do you declare a vacation day for yourself?  Do you have motivational phrases posted around your office to inspire you to get busy?

I would love to hear from you what you do when you feel this way!

Are you getting work done, or are you being lazy?

Think about what you do every day at your computer, or whatever you do to start your work day.  Do you do a lot of busy work, like check email, headlines, facebook, twitter, your stats?  If this only takes you a few minutes, that is fine.  But if it ends up sucking you in and taking you half the day, this is not working hard or smart.

If you need to write an article or a blog, or write some ad copy, this should really be tackled fairly early in your day so that you can get it done while your mind is fresh and you have the time.  If you let things slide while you do your busy work, your mind will be more sluggish and you will find it easier to put things off that you really should be doing.

Once your important tasks are finished, then you can make time to do the other things, and then you can spend as much time as you want or need in those tasks.  You will feel like you got things accomplished, and you will feel good about yourself and your business.

Or if you feel some of those things are important to your business, set a time limit, do what you really need to first, then move on to your other more important tasks, returning to the emails, etc., later.

What Are Your Strengths?

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

One of the best ways to make money online is to find your strengths and work with them in your business.

How Do I Find My Strengths?

  • One way to find your strengths is to think about what you do well.
  • Another way is to think about what others have told you that you do well.
  • Another is to ask other people what you think your strengths are.
  • And another is to find a professional who can test you to find your strengths.

Just What Will This Do for Me?

If you are not getting the results from your business that you had hoped for, it may be that you are not taking advantage of your strengths.  If you are good at, say, public speaking, but not a very good writer, and you have a blog but are not utilizing video, then you need to work harder at getting a video account going.  You can then do your marketing through video.  If you like having a blog, then put video in you blog.

Or maybe you are trying to do video, but that isn’t your strength.  Try something else that you ARE good at, and see if your success increases.

Maybe you are trying to sell a product about how to train dogs, but you really don’t like animals.  Then you shouldn’t be selling products about animals.

Find what your strengths are, and try to work with them.  Then you will be more successful in your business ventures.

Do You Want to Blog, but Aren’t Sure About Getting Started?

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

You have been reading about all that you have to do to be successful in network and affiliate marketing.  You have seen things about blogging, and are interested, but are just not sure about it – not quite ready to take the plunge.

How to Get Started in Blogging

There are several ways you can get started in blogging.

  1. You can take a blogging course (I highly recommend Ty Tribble’s course – he is the one who helped me get started).
  2. You can find someone else online who trains people to blog.
  3. You can read blogs of those who teach in their blogs about blogging.
  4. Or you can get started with a free blogging site to get your feet wet.  I am involved in a free blogging site that starts you off with 200 subscribers just for joining!

If you take Ty Tribble’s blogging course, or if you take someone else’s course or just do the research yourself, you will need to invest in a domain name (here is a really good source), and a web hosting site (here is a really good one that is inexpensive).

If you go with a free blogging site, there are some disadvantages.  The main one is that you do not own the site, and can be deleted from the site for any reason.

If you are willing to take that risk, and you would like to see traffic coming to your blog immediately, this free blog site would be a great place to start.  You can start advertising your affiliate programs you choose right on the blog immediately, and you will get traffic.

Another advantage for a beginner is that you will really only have to post blogs every few days, not daily, as your blog will only be sent out every 3 days or so.  However, you can blog as often as you wish, and promote the site other ways to bring traffic to it if you wish.  You are not limited, but it may make you feel less pressured as you begin.

You may view my own blog here to get an idea of how it is set up, and if you wish to get your own, just click on the button at the top of that page, and then have fun!
